Rehydrate With Herbs
With a few simple ingredients, and an overnight fridge steep, you could have a healthier alternative to rehydration beverages sold in stores!
What you need:
Celtic Sea Salt,
Lemon (Lemon Juice),
Honey (Or Maple Syrup),
Holy Basil, Apple Mint, Parsley, Thyme, Lemon Balm (You can choose to use other herbs as well)
You’ll also need a container to steep your mixture in overnight and a mesh strainer.
Recipe is based on 1 gallon of water
Nothing fancy here!
Take your empty water container and add 1 1/2 tsp of Celtic salt (you could add more if you’d like).
Add <1/4 cup of lemon juice (adjust depending on tastes)
Add >1/4 cup of honey (adjust depending on tastes)
After you have selected which fresh herbs you’d like to use, wash and rough chop your herbs, add them to the container.
Fill container with water, shake well, and steep in the fridge overnight.
Shake and strain in the morning. We like to strain them right into the pint jars for grab and go drinks!
Herb notes:
My combination and ratios of herbs is as follows:
1/4 cup of holy basil leaves (you could totally use regular sweet basil)
3-5 sprigs of thyme leaves stripped off
4-5 large apple mint leaves
4-5 parsley leaves
1/4-1/2 cup of lemon balm leaves
So what are some of the benefits of this easy to make beverage?
It’s kind of amazing when we break it down, and it definitely gives staying hydrated a fresh face!
